Xbox Kinect Games vs. Wii Games

Anytime there is a new gaming console placed on the market it pays to find out how they compare.  Xbox 360 Kinect is a totally game controller free console option.  The Kinect Sensor will read everything going on with the players to help them get through the levels and win the game.  It is the next generation of video gaming.  In 2006 the Nintendo Wii was introduced with wireless technology and interactive games to get players off the couch.  With the introduction of this concept came such things as a dance floor mat, racing wheel, and other controllers used to get through the games.

The major difference between Wii and Kinect is the controllers.  Kinect doesn’t need any more equipment other than buying the Xbox 360 console and the Kinect sensor.  You can play any of the 16 games currently in production without buying anything else from Xbox.

Now, you have probably noticed we just mentioned there are 16 Xbox Kinect games.  This isn’t even 10 percent of what Nintendo Wii has on the market.  When you do a search at Nintendo Wii site you will find 1021 games match the search.  In a competition of how many games are out there for each console Wii certainly has the majority, but Xbox 360 Kinect is new.  After the launch of the actual console you can expect more games to be released.  What they are really waiting for is probably to see what genres are most popular.

The genres as far as both game companies go are the same.  You can look under dance, race, adventure, family, animals, nature, and exercise and find similar style games.  For example Wii offers Endless Ocean, DIY, Pokemon, Super Mario Bros., and ExcitBike.

The Xbox Kinect Games include Dance Central, Sport 8, Kinectimals, Your Shape, Zumba Fitness, Kinect Adventures, Adrenalin Misfits, The Biggest Loser, Child of Eden, DanceMaster, Sports Active 2, Game Party, and Motion Sports.

Wii being a Nintendo product has rights to several popular characters and games like Garfield, Tournaments of Legends, Furry Legends, The Last Airbender, Pong Toss Pro, and Despicable Me.  You should expect Xbox 360 Kinect to have many of their regular games turned into hits for the Kinect software.  Already Xbox Kinect Games include a Sonic the Hedge Hog game for those who remember the Sega hit.

Pricing for games will depend on what you are interested in when it comes to the Nintendo Wii.  For example, Super Mario Bros. Wii can be found for under £35.00, but something like the NCAA Football II game is sold for over £55.00.  All games from Xbox are currently £39.99.  The prices on these games will be lowered once there are newer games on the market, as well as when there are a number of used games out there to pick up.

According to most reviewers and gamers out there, even though Wii has hundreds of games they lack a good library.  Many of the games are rated as “bad games,” thus Xbox Kinect Games with fewer options might just win out.  Reviewers of the games are quite happy with what they’ve seen so far.
